Aircraft Maintenance Engineering
Specialised technical training in the inspection, repair and maintenance of aircraft structures and systems. AME suits students who enjoy engineering and want hands-on work on real aircraft.
Eligibility, medicals and recognition
Before applying
Check the licence category and authority, course entry requirements, approved training scope, examinations and practical maintenance experience. Do not treat admission to an engineering course as eligibility for an AME licence.
Medical planning
Do not apply pilot medical standards to AME students by default. Ask the provider and relevant licensing authority about the health, safety and fitness requirements for the practical work and privileges sought.
Using the qualification in India
A degree or training certificate is not an AME licence. Indian aircraft maintenance licensing follows CAR-66, with applicable knowledge, experience and aircraft-type requirements; training approval is a separate matter under CAR-147. Overseas qualifications are not automatically converted by the pilot-licence process.

- 1
